FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR JOB SEEKERS
If you've not used a UK employment agency before there are
some questions you might want to ask. Here we answer some
of the more usual ones, but if there's something extra you'd
like an answer to, call or email us.
Q. How much does it cost to register with Target?
A. Nothing. Our service is free to job seekers.
Q. I don't have any specific skills. Can you still find me work?
A. Almost certainly. At Target we handle a wide range of
employment opportunities. Some call for skilled staff, but
others are suitable those without special skills. Why not
give us a call or come by and see us, and we'll investigate
what sorts of jobs you might be suitable for?
Q. I'm looking for a managerial role. Can you help?
A. Maybe. Most of the jobs we handle are staff and workers,
rather than managers, but we do get asked for supervisory
staff frequently. An exception is in the field of finance
and accounting, where we supply staff up to the level of financial
directors. Give Target a call or drop by, and we'll discuss
how we could help you.
Q. Do I need a work permit to work in the UK?
A. If you are a national of any of the EU countries you
don't need a work permit. Citizens of other countries will.
There are a variety of schemes to obtain permanent or temporary
work permits - which is most suitable depends on your individual
circumstances. Contact us and we can advise you on which would
be most suitable for you. Work permits are necessary for non-EU
citizens but there is usually a quick, legitimate and inexpensive
way of obtaining them.
Q. I'm only in the UK for a short period. Can you still find
me work?
A. At Target, we find permanent, temporary and contract
jobs. If you're only here for a few weeks or months, you can
still find work in temporary or contract roles. Contact us
to see what we have that would be suitable.
Q. If I work as a temporary, when do I get paid?
A. As a temporary, you're an employee of Target Appointments,
and we pay you. At the end of every working week, return your
signed-off work sheet to us (this lets us know how many hours
you've worked that week). We will pay you by either BACS direct
into your bank account or issue a cheque by no later than
the Friday following the week you worked. Go to the stationary
store and fill in the 'initial bank details form'. Once completed
fax it to us. Its that simple!
Q. As a temporary worker, what deductions are made from my pay?
A. Everybody working in the UK is liable to pay National Insurance and Income Tax. The level at which you pay will depend on the amount you are earning and your tax status, and we are happy to discuss this with you in relation to your own circumstances.
